    Peter L. Duffy M.D., MMM, FACC, FSCAI, was a founding partner in Pinehurst Cardiology Consultants PLLC and is now the Director of Quality for the Cardiovascular Service Line at FirstHealth of the Carolinas Reid Heart Institute/Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC.

    Dr. Duffy graduated with Honors in Chemistry from Lafayette College in Easton, PA, and received his MD degree from New York Medical College in 1980. He completed training in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center in New York City and his Cardiology Fellowship in Washington DC at Georgetown University Hospital and the Washington DC Veteran's Hospital.

    Dr. Duffy holds Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and the sub-specialty of Interventional Cardiology.
    He received his Masters in Medical Management from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, in 2009. His studies were focused on the development of quality improvement and leadership programs for cardiologists.

    Dr. Duffy was a recent Chair of the Medical Directors Institute (MDI) at the American College of Cardiology (ACC). The MDI is a consortium of cardiologists and the medical directors for third-party payers nationally whose purpose is to align pay-for-performance goals and incentives.  He also co-chairs the Advocacy Committee of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI).

    He serves on numerous SCAI and ACC committees, including the Cardiovascular Practice Recognition Program work group, Partners in Quality and the Heart Seeker Informatics Committee of the ACC, and the SCAI Political Action Committee and Quality Improvement Committee.

    Dr. Duffy is the SCAI representative for the Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement/Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) of the American Medical Association and for the Accreditation Planning Subcommittee for Personnel/Competencies and Training for the Society of Chest Pain Centers.  He is a member of the Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE) Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Writing Team. ACE is a joint venture of the ACC and SCAI to recognize and foster high-quality care and to serve as a vehicle for accreditation of cardiac catheterization labs nationally.

    Dr. Duffy resides in Pinehurst with his wife Christa and their children Kevin and Fiona. When not working he enjoys golf, running, reading and being anywhere with his wife and children - especially if it's at the beach.
